Hospice appeal for unwanted Christmas presents

8 January, 2013

Every year thousands of unwanted Christmas presents are either put to the back of a cupboard or thrown away.

Phyllis Tuckwell Hospiceis urging local people to donate unwanted gifts, no matter how large, small or valuable, to help raise funds in the Hospice’s high street shops.

So, if you received an item of clothing that isn’t to your taste, a book you’ll never get round to reading, or a gift set, take them to your nearest Hospice shop.

“We’ve all received an unsuitable gift or something we simply didn’t want,” says Peter Foxton, Head of Retail atPhyllis Tuckwell Hospice. “Donating items to our shops is an excellent way of contributing to the fundraising efforts of the Hospice, particularly during financially difficult times.”

With less than 12 per cent of total funding coming from the NHS, the Hospice needs to raise £15,000 a day to maintain current levels of service.
