Dance your way into the New Year
15 January, 2013
Trying to think of a New Year’s resolution for 2013? If you tuned in to BBC’s Strictly Come Dancing every weekend at the end of last year, then this could be the perfect New Year, fun-filled challenge for you – and you’ll burn some calories too!
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospiceis joining forces with Angela’s School of Dancing to offer 20 lucky people the chance to learn to ballroom dance. This exclusive opportunity will give each couple the chance to showcase their quicksteps with other like-minded individuals during an exhilarating dancing evening in aid of the Hospice. And that’s not all… there’s even a Strictly twist, still to be revealed!
Applicants should be beginners and available for 10 weeks on a Sunday evening to attend lessons at Angela’s School of Dancing in Aldershot. There is no charge to take part but participants are asked for sponsorship to learn to dance, with all funds going to the Hospice.
Ruth Scammell, Community & Events Fundraising Manager at the Hospice said: “Applications from all are welcome but we’re particularly keen to hear from men and couples. We’ve already experienced a high level of interest from women and we’d love to be able find a Fred Astaire for each Ginger Rogers.”
One of the couples who took part last year said: “We can honestly say we loved every minute. Don't get me wrong, the nerves on the night were jangling, but even my husband has said he would like to do it all over again. Fab experience – go for it and enjoy!”
