Own Pantomime

TREASURE
ISLAND
What
do Robert Louis Stevenson, Daniel
Defoe, JM Barrie, HG Wells, Cluedo,
Trumpton
and Who wants to be a millionaire have in common?
At this time of year in Crookham, there can be only one answer!
Yes it’s pantomime time again!
Even
as you read this, the good Berger’s of Crookham are transforming the
Memorial Hall for this year’s extravaganza.
No expense is being spared as the good ship Hispaniola,
not to mention the Inn, the docks and an island, are being made ready for
your entertainment. How do
they do it – well, that’s a secret, but, rather like the inside of Dr
Who’s Tardis (or the
Millennium Dome), you will have to see it to believe it!
As
for the performers themselves, words cannot do justice to their talent,
their stagecraft, their dedication. In
their desire to bring the treasure home, they have abandoned pride and
self-respect, and thrown themselves wholeheartedly (and sometimes a little
too literally) into their roles. Landlubbers
and seafarers, from the sophisticated to the truly wild, here is a tale of
good versus evil, with a generous helping of adventure, heroism and sheer
insanity besides.
Our
adopted charity is once again the Phyllis
Tuckwell Hospice. Treasure
Island will be our 20th annual production, with
performances from Tuesday 20th to Saturday 24th
February. So, if you hate to
see people enjoying themselves, stay well away from the Memorial Hall
during February Half-Term week; life may never be the same again!
