Appeals Department Report
We have managed to run a diverse calendar of activities - from stalls at fetes in many towns and villages in our catchment areas, to concerts, parades, auctions, our own Garden Fete and Jazz Night (in the beautiful setting of Farnham Castle), Street Collections, Bike Ride, Hospice Walk (with WWF), providing copy for our 2001 calendar and supplying Christmas cards to meet many tastes.

Our Coffee Mornings in the Hospice’s Day Care Centre in November for the sale of Christmas cards and gifts were a resounding success and are now an annual event.

Many service clubs and organisations have very kindly come forward with help on our collection days and provided manpower on other occasions, for which we thank them hugely. This is such a practical way to help with our work and the public always respond generously. I would encourage anyone who would like to help, to call me for the latest information on forthcoming events.

Numerous GP practices, day care centres, hospitals and companies have helped by holding a collection tin during Sunflower Week in June and have also sold literally thousands of ‘Christmas Pets’ over the Christmas period for our benefit. Thanks to all of you for your enthusiastic help.

This year, as this Review went to press, it was time for ‘Voices for Hospices.’ This great worldwide event happens every three years (next time is 2003), sponsored by British Telecom. Hundreds of people paid to come and sing - and also to listen - to Handel’s Messiah principally at the Memorial Chapel, RMA Sandhurst, and at St. Thomas on the Bourne Church, Farnham. Thousands of pounds were raised for the Hospice. Sincere thanks to our organisers who worked so hard and of course, to all those of you who went along to support us.

We are always open to suggestions from anyone with interesting new ways to raise funds - or who would like to help with an existing one! In conclusion, my thanks to the many hundreds of people who help us, especially to my dedicated band of volunteers who help man the Appeals Office.
