Complimentary Therapies
Report 2000-2001
During the
last year, the Complementary Therapies Service has expanded to include
Aromatherapy, Reflexology, Indian Head Massage and Foot and Hand Massage.
We now have a team of valuable volunteer therapists who, along with
myself, offer these therapies to patients, relatives and carers and staff
in the Day Care Centre and on the Wards. We also make home visits and
regularly see out-patients.
Our therapists
offer one to one contact in a gentle way, helping to allay anxiety and
tension by calming and soothing the mind and emotions, easing muscular aches
and pains, reducing inflammation, soothing dry, itchy skin and improving
circulation.
Complementary
Therapies are now an integral part of the holistic approach taken by the
Hospice for patients’ care and well-being, emotionally, physically and
spiritually.
