Volunteer roles
Reception
On the front line for visitors and telephone calls to the Hospice – this area is manned primarily by volunteers.
Help with tea and coffee, washing up, patients' activities, serving and helping at meal times and general support for our nursing staff.
Help with tea and coffee, craft activities, games, puzzles, meals and keeping everywhere clean and tidy. Our Day Hospice volunteers also chat with our patients and make close friendships.
Administration support
Clerical/administration, typing, filing/photocopying, counting money, project co-ordinating and much more!
Driver
Transport patients to and from the Hospice for Day Hospice or appointments (with expenses reimbursed).
A team of volunteers are led by a Shop Manager in each of our shops. Duties include serving at the till point, sorting donated goods, pricing and displays.
Assisting our busy Fundraising Team with data entry, event preparation and general administrative support.
These are regional teams within the community who organise and promote their own fundraising events in aid of the Hospice. They are very important ambassadors for the Hospice.
Our volunteers are trained to deliver a range of complementary therapies to our patients. Aromatherapy, reflexology, shiatsu, massage, hairdressing, hand and foot care and much more…
Flowers
Volunteers create stunning floral displays and simple arrangements for display throughout the Hospice.
Led by the Chaplain, a team of volunteers and lay chaplains look after the spiritual care of the Hospice patients, as well as those of their families and friends.
Bereavement
Volunteers who are willing to train to offer bereavement support are generally recruited and selected from experienced Hospice volunteers.
Gardening
The beautiful Hospice gardens are developed and maintained entirely by volunteers.
