GUILDFORD GROVE GOES YELLOW FOR PHYLLIS
TUCKWELL
Children at Guildford Grove Primary School had a
midsummer’s day to remember when they dressed in yellow, wore yellow
sunflowers and attended a special assembly in aid of their local hospice,
the Phyllis Tuckwell.
Their day was organised by Gilly Morris, who is
teacher of the deaf at the school. Gilly’s husband Howard was cared for at
the Hospice and so she was keen for all the children at Guildford Grove to
get involved in GO YELLOW 2002.
Claire Walker, Community Fundraiser for the
Phyllis Tuckwell, visited the school to attend the assembly and meet the
staff and pupils. Claire said: ‘I was very moved to see everybody wearing
yellow and to answer the childrens’ questions about the Phyllis Tuckwell.
There are more than 3000 pupils throughout Surrey and North and Mid
Hampshire who have taken part in our GO YELLOW month and I am grateful to
everyone for supporting the Hospice in this way.’
Guildford Grove joins with Witley Infants, Walsh
Juniors from Ash, St Mark’s Primary in Farnborough, Crookham Infants,
Farnborough Grange, Lorraine Infants, Beaumont County Juniors, Farnham
College, Clewborough House, St Andrew’s Infants in Farnham, Heatherside
Infants, Weyfield Primary and The Bourne Community School in going yellow
for the Hospice. And one lucky school will win £500, kindly donated by World
Wide Carpets Ltd of Aldershot for the school that raises the most money for
this local charity. Guildford Grove raised a total of £421.25 and the
winning school will be announced during July.
