LIBRARY
The
Library - bringing education and enjoyment
Entirely
managed and run by volunteers, the library maintains an up-to-date stock of
clinical books, videos, tapes and journals. Nurses studying for further
professional qualifications, or those training workers from organisations
such as the NHS or nursing homes, regularly use these resources.
Patients in the
wards or in Day Care borrow books and videos and may take them home. The
stock is constantly refreshed by donations from individuals, patients,
families and public libraries. The cost to the Hospice for this service is
zero, yet brings great pleasure and comfort to the many patients who derive
great enjoyment from reading.
Corporate
Volunteers and Gifts in Kind
Businesses have been among our best supporters, bringing in teams
of volunteers to take on a range of projects in the Hospice.
Team
challenges
Many
companies have carried out ‘team challenges’ which range from decorating
corridors to running fundraising events. Their staff have also donated
mobile phones and toner cartridges which we recycle. |
