We need volunteer drivers! Can you help?
29 July, 2011
Following the successful opening of the new Dove Centre which provides a wide range of new services for our out patients and their carers, we are in urgent need of more volunteer drivers to provide transport.
Volunteer drivers provide a vital service for our patients at Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice in Farnham. They undertake more than 150 trips each month using their own cars or driving the Hospice’s vehicles.
Whilst we are interested to hear from anyone willing to use their own car, we would especially welcome interest from volunteers willing to drive our minibus that carries 2 patients in wheelchairs, or our small van that takes a single patient in a wheelchair. Both vehicles can be driven by people having a car licence. We provide training in how patients are transported safely. We are also seeking people willing to escort these journeys throughout the local area
Our volunteer drivers give as much time as they wish. This is normally between Monday and Friday for up to 2 hours in the morning or afternoon and often over the lunchtime period. The number of trips can vary from one a month to two or three a week, depending on personal preference. Every little you can give in terms of time would be much appreciated to ensure our patients can access our services.
We would be very pleased to hear from potential volunteer drivers. Please contact me on 01252 729400 or [email protected]
Thank you
