MARGARET'S STORY

Margaret lives in Compton and cares for her husband Gordon full time, helping him with all his personal care needs. Gordon is 65 and has a slow growing brain tumour. This has left him paralysed down his left side. They both access many of the Hospice’s services. Gordon attends Day Hospice weekly where he receives complementary therapies and occupational therapy and occasionally stays in our In-Patient Unit for Respite care. Margaret is visited by one of our counsellors and comes to the monthly Share and Care group.

“The back up of the Hospice enables us to keep living at home together and it is unthinkable what our life would be like without its support. I can call any time, day or night and get help and advice. I can discuss any worries I have about Gordon with people who know and really care for him. The Hospice cares for both of us and Gordon is happy, and relaxed in his ‘second home’. I trust the staff implicitly and they anticipate his every need.  When he is there I can have peace of mind knowing that he is getting the very best care.”
