The Phyllis Tuckwell
Hospice cares for patients with cancer,
motor neurone disease and other terminal illnesses. Based in
Farnham, the Hospice cares for
patients from south-west Surrey and north-east Hampshire.
It costs £3.9 million
a year – that’s £10,000 a day – to run the Hospice and we rely on public
donations to cover 84p of every £1 we spend. The Hospice is not part of
the NHS.
Last year, the
Hospice had a financial shortfall because income
from donations and legacies did not keep pace with the rising costs
of caring for patients and their loved ones. Four of the Hospice’s
beds were closed in April 2006. Please give now to the
Living Appeal to make sure that the Hospice does not face a
similar shortfall this year and help us to re-open the beds.
