GO YELLOW IN JUNE
AND SUPPORT HOSPICE IN ANNIVERSARY YEAR
|
|
The yellow sunflower is the official emblem
for all Hospices and this June the Phyllis Tuckwell is inviting all
members of the community, companies, pubs, churches and schools to stage
their own GO YELLOW event to raise money for the charity. The hospice
would like to hear from anyone who would like to organise their own
event such as a yellow raffle, a yellow cake sale, a ‘dress in yellow’
day or a yellow auction.
Last year over 3,000 children in schools
across Surrey and Hampshire joined in the campaign by holding yellow
mufti- days in June in aid of Phyllis Tuckwell and it is hoped that they
will continue their support this year. There is still time to register
your school for a yellow mufti day, so teachers and pupils are
encouraged to contact Graham Brookland for further details.
Alternatively the
hospice is holding a Tea Party in the beautiful gardens on Friday June
18. Come along and have a cup of tea and piece of cake for just £1-50
and be part of the nation’s biggest tea party and help support the
hospice too. |
The Phyllis Tuckwell
Hospice relies almost totally on fundraising initiatives such as GO YELLOW
to find more than £3.5million per year to continue the role that it plays
within the community. Most families know of a family member or friend who
has been cared for by the hospice.
For more information on
GOING YELLOW this June, contact the fundraising department on 01252 729400
or visit

The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice benefited with a
donation of £3,500 after a Boxing Evening was held in their name at the
Maida Gym in Aldershot. The event, organized by Terry Owens in conjunction
with the Rotary Club of Aldershot was a huge success attracting over 250
people. Seven bouts were contested between representatives of the Army
Boxing Association and a Home Counties Select Team. An assortment of
alternative fundraising activity proved popular during the evening including
an Auction that included assigned Chelsea FC shirt, a signed Surrey Cricket
Club bat and a signed montage of Jimmy Greaves. Mr Owens commented
afterwards “ The evening was enjoyed by everybody that attended raising
vital funds for our local hospice too”.

TONGHAM AND 'PABLO' DO PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE PROUD
Tongham Football Club's
Paul 'Pablo' Jacobs not only completed the recent Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice
'Logan's Run' in a creditable 27 minutes, but he raised an excellent £300
into the bargain.
With Tongham F.C.
continuing to adopt Phyllis Tuckwell as their appointed charity, Club
Chairman David Hollis was invited with Pablo to visit the renowned local
establishment in Farnham by their Community Fundraiser, Graham Brookland.
After receiving very
hospitable insight into the excellent work carried out at the hospice, both
David and Pablo presented a £300 cheque to Graham.

| Staff at Camberley based
company Alfa Laval Ltd presented a cheque for £1142-50 to the
Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice as a result of fundraising efforts to support
three employees who competed in the Logan’s Run in April.
The three members of staff, John Harrap,
Peter Hey and Don Paterson completed the four mile run around Rushmoor
Arena and were part of over 200 runners who entered the established
event. |
|
Alfa Laval have been tremendous supporters of
the hospice over the years and their support is greatly appreciated.
