SHE WANTS YOU AS A NEW RECRUIT

Claire Walker is our Community Fundraiser and we are going to tell you about some of WALKERS WONDERS…. but first, we should catch up with what has been happening in the Community since our last edition of ‘Hospice Life’.  Claire reports that Christmas was a busy time for fundraising.

Santa visited the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice Christmas Bazaar at the Guildhall in Guilford and helped to raise over £ 1,700.

Children from Boxgrove Primary, Farnborough Grange Infants, Pilgrims Way, Lightwater Village, Lorraine Infants and Bentley Primary Schools, had all been busy collecting toys for Santa’s Grotto and a toy and game stall in response to a Toy Appeal Claire had launched.

The Hospice has literally been ‘made-up’ by the support of the Guilford branch of Debenhams.  Fashion victims were given the opportunity to experience a make-over, courtesy of Debenhams, who sent a supply of their latest products and expert beautician, Nicky Pilgrim to the Bazaar.  The following week, all beauty consultants in store, offered a day of free treatments, including make-overs, mini-facials, hand massages and manicures.  Throughout the day, in return for handy tips for that special Party Season look, customers were invited to make a donation to the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice. With a raffle, organized by Debenhams into the bargain, the day raised a further £ 722 for Hospice funds.

An extra special Christmas Concert took place at the High Cross Church in Camberley, in early December – when the Rushmoor Oddfellows Male Voice Choir donated their services, in what was their penultimate concert under the directorship of Colin Wilson.  The gentlemen were in fine voice and were joined by Purple Harmony – the special choir from Ravenscote Community Junior School.  With wine and mince pies in the interval, courtesy of Waitrose, this was a happy and enjoyable concert, raising £ 1,000.

As Community Fundraiser, you will see Claire out and about, perhaps at YOUR Company, School or Meeting Place.  Her brief is to bring you exciting and interesting projects to attend as families or groups and in this edition of ‘Hospice Life’, Claire wants to take you to the Park, get canned and end up in Jail.

Yes! Really!
