How you can help Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice
Donate goods for us to sell
We like: quality clothing, especially ladies’ designer labels, coats and
hats in winter, shorts and blouses in summer, classic dining room or sitting
room furniture
We don’t like:
poor quality clothes, worn or dirty clothes, dated clothes (there is a
difference between unfashionable and retro!), electrical goods, sofas and
armchairs without fire-retardant labels
We have to
throw away 80% of the items donated to our shops and we spend hundreds of
pounds a year on waste removal. If you have old or worn clothing or shoes
you want to dispose of, please put it into black bin bags clearly labelled
“rags”, to enable us to recycle them easily.
You can take
your donated goods to the warehouse in Camberley (at the same address as the
Camberley shop); or to any of the ten shops.
Volunteer your time
All of our shops always need more help from volunteers. You only need to
give 2-3 hours per week, and be willing to take on all sorts of tasks, such
as serving customers, sorting clothes, merchandising and window dressing,
preparing clothes or pricing goods. You’ll be part of a team in your town,
serving your community and even having fun. Contact Tim Osborn on 01252
729449 or e-mail: tim.osborn@pth.org.uk
E-bay and on-line auctions
We can’t resist an on-line bargain and we know that lots of Hospice
supporters love using e-bay. Have you got some goods or clothes you were
thinking about sending to the Hospice? Perhaps you never found the time, or
perhaps you couldn’t find a parking space near he shop? If you like to
e-bay, would you consider selling the goods and donating the proceeds to the
Hospice? (You can then gift aid your donation, and make it worth even
more!). If it’s too much of a strain, then call the Hospice and we’ll put
it on e-bay for you. Watch this space for more developments….
Stock collections at your office, school or place of work
If you’ve ever thought about giving clothes, books, bric a brac or other
stuff to a charity shop, but never found time, a parking space or have never
quite got round to it – this is for you!
The Hospice
wants to send a van to your car park / play ground / premises to pick up
donated goods from you and your colleagues or school mums and teachers. All
you need to do is call Tim Osborn on 01252 729449 or e-mail:
tim.osborn@pth.org.uk and fix a date and let us know
how you want to promote it – do you want posters, flyers, leaflets,
postcards, letters to remind everyone of the date of the collection? On the
day itself, our shops team parks the Hospice van in your car park and you
and your colleagues and the mums and teachers simply unload their goods
straight from their car to the van. You get to clear out your cupboards and
the Hospice gets a van full of goods to sell. Fantastic!
