PHYLLIS TUCKWELL HOSPICE CATCHMENT AREA
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice cares for
patients from a large area that covers the towns of Camberley, Guildford, Godalming and Cranleigh, Hindhead and Haslemere,
Farnham and Fleet, Aldershot and Farnborough. There are 600,000 people
in our catchment area; most of them live in the more densely populated
region around Aldershot, Farnborough, Frimley and Camberley.
Consequently most of our patients come from these towns.
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is one of the
larger hospices in the south east with 18 beds, although currently two
are closed due to a shortage of funds. It is also one of the oldest
- the first UK hospice, St Christopher's in London, was opened in 1967;
the Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice was opened 12 years later and in 2004 we
celebrated our 25th Anniversary.
Our neighbouring hospices are: St Michael's
in Basingstoke, Woking Hospice and Princess Alice Hospice in Esher. We
work closely with the Beacon Centre and St Luke's in Guildford . There
are two children's hospices in our area who care for under 18s. They
are: CHASE near Guildford and Naomi House near Winchester.
The Phyllis Tuckwell Hospice is an
independent charity but is represented on a national scale by Help the
Hospices, an umbrella charity which promotes and campaigns on behalf of
all independent hospices
